PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 19 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit noramichelle.com, join our newsletter, download a free book or answer a reader survey, and what we do with it.
“We”, “us” and “our” mean Nora Michelle Publishing, a trading name of MT Online Enterprises LLC, a Texas company. You can reach us any time at contact@noramichelle.com.
The short version:
• We collect your email address and first name when you join our newsletter, plus basic information about how you use our emails.
• We use it to send you our newsletter, deliver free books and choose what to write and recommend.
• We don’t sell your personal information. We never give or rent our subscriber list to other authors or marketers.
• A few companies help us run the newsletter and website. They handle your information on our behalf.
• We may use a scrambled version of your email to show Facebook and Instagram ads to people with similar interests. You can opt out.
• You can unsubscribe in one click, and you can ask us to see or erase your information at any time.
1. What we collect
When you join our newsletter or claim a free book. Sign-ups happen through BookFunnel, including pages on dl.noramichelle.com and links such as noramichelle.com/freegift. When you tick the box to join our newsletter in exchange for a free book, BookFunnel passes us your email address and first name. Some free-book pages also check that you are already a subscriber before you download.
When you read our emails. Our email service, MailerLite, records when you subscribe, whether you open an email and which links you click. It may also record an approximate location (country or city) based on your internet connection.
When you answer a reader survey. Our trope survey (noramichelle.com/tropes) runs on Google Forms. The survey is anonymous: it doesn’t ask for your name or email address, and we only see your answers.
When you email us. If you write to us or reply to a newsletter, we receive your email address and whatever you write.
When you visit our website. Our website host keeps standard server records, including your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. These are used to keep the site running and secure. All fonts on our site are hosted on our own server, so visiting our site doesn’t send your information to Google. We don’t use Google Analytics or any other analytics or advertising tracking on our website.
We don’t ask for, and don’t want, sensitive information such as health details, religion or payment details. We don’t sell books directly on this site; purchases happen on retailers such as Amazon.
2. How we use it
• To send our newsletter. About twice a week, each issue recommends a romance by an indie author (sometimes free, sometimes paid) and shares Nora Michelle news and books.
• To deliver free books and check whether you’re a subscriber on subscriber-only downloads.
• To improve what we send. Opens, clicks and survey answers tell us which books and tropes you enjoy.
• To reply to you when you email us.
• To find new readers. See “Facebook and Instagram ads” below.
• To keep things secure and legal, for example to stop spam sign-ups or to respond to a lawful request.
Affiliate links. Some links in our emails and on our site are affiliate links, including Amazon links. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. We don’t pass your email address to Amazon or any other retailer.
3. Who else sees your information
We don’t sell your personal information. We never give, rent or swap our subscriber list with other authors or marketers.
Companies that help us run things. These companies handle your information so we can provide our newsletter and website:
Company What it does for us
MailerLite Stores our subscriber list and sends our newsletter
BookFunnel Runs our sign-up and free-book download pages
Google Hosts our anonymous reader survey (Google Forms)
Bluehost Hosts our website
BookFunnel also keeps its own record of readers who download books through it, under its own privacy policy. If you’d like that record removed, contact BookFunnel or email us and we’ll point you to the right place.
Facebook and Instagram ads. We may upload our subscribers’ email addresses to Meta (which runs Facebook and Instagram) to find new readers with similar interests. Addresses are scrambled (“hashed”) before Meta receives them, and Meta uses them only to build our ad audiences. We never upload the addresses of subscribers we know are in the UK or EU. If you don’t want to be included, email us and we’ll exclude you.
Newsletter swaps and promotions with other authors. When we feature another author’s book, we send the email ourselves. Their links take you to their book pages, but we don’t share your details with them.
Links to other sites. Our emails and website link to retailers, other authors and services such as Amazon, BookFunnel, Genius Link and mybook.to. Those sites may collect information under their own privacy policies.
When the law requires it. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect someone’s safety, or if our business is ever sold or transferred.
4. Cookies
Our website doesn’t use advertising or analytics cookies. WordPress may set a small number of essential cookies so the site works properly. Sites we link to, such as Amazon, BookFunnel and Google, may set their own cookies.
5. How long we keep it
• Subscribers: while you’re subscribed.
• After you unsubscribe: we remove you from our mailing list at our regular quarterly clean-up. Our email service may keep a record that you unsubscribed so you aren’t emailed again by mistake. If you’d like every trace erased, email us and we’ll have it deleted permanently.
• Emails: only as long as they’re useful, then deleted.
6. Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can:
• Unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
• See what information we hold about you.
• Correct anything that’s wrong.
• Erase your information completely.
• Opt out of being included in our Facebook and Instagram ad audiences.
To do any of these, email contact@noramichelle.com. We’ll reply within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm the request from the email address we have on file, so we don’t act on someone else’s behalf.
7. Readers in the UK and EU
If you live in the UK or EU, data protection law gives you extra rights. Our legal reasons for using your information are:
• Consent for our newsletter, which you can withdraw by unsubscribing.
• Legitimate interests for running our website, keeping it secure and replying to you.
You can also object to how we use your information, ask us to limit it, or ask for a copy in a portable format. We’re based in the US, and our service providers may store information in the US or elsewhere. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first; you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).
8. Children
Our books and newsletter are for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we’ll delete their details.
9. Keeping it safe
We use reputable service providers and take sensible steps to protect your information. No system online is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell subscribers by email before it takes effect.
